To make you a ring sweetie.

Sol_Invictus

So, what is this thing you're destroying your marriage over?

sgtpepperaut

A horizontal and vertical milling machine with a 16hp 3phase motor :)

Sol_Invictus

One of the things I didn't learn to do during my life was work with metal... welding or machining. It's always been one of my great regrets. ...Sounds awesome; tell the wifu it's been fun.

conined

You're talking like you're dead already

[deleted]

Yeah I’m only in my twenties but I plan to keep learning until I’m dead. Otherwise what’s the point.

Sol_Invictus

Not dead by a long shot. But at 73 you have less energy and your days fill up faster. I'm still an active woodworker, take care of a large yard/garden on my own and am married to a 36yo woman who's the love of my life. ....I have plenty to keep me busy. Just wish that I'd had some metal working skills from time to time over the years especially when I was building furniture for a living.

eddywouldgo

Your house has three phase power ?!?

sgtpepperaut

In germany / Austria most apartments and houses do!

LordMirdalan

That makes me SOOOO jealous. Single-phase 120v here in the states.

Always422

Could you imagine the carnage in the u.s. if we had three phase in homes and apartments?? And how the “safety” regs would be?

sgtpepperaut

I mean how else are you supposed to power 10kw induction cooking fields... I remember the stoves in the states....slow af. Haha. But yeah it's standard here to have three phases to the breaker box.

Iwantmyteslanow

Perfect for your workshop and that big ol electric car charging station

AwesomeAech

I mean you can explain but it doesn't matter. Long as you have space for it, you're allowed to do what makes you happy :D Asking permission defers decisionmaking to someone else. Asking forgiveness is just better

coupebuilder

Easier to explain than a 3 ton thing! And as long as you stuck with the universal man buying tool price of "Hey sweetie, look what I got for next to free.... they practically paid me to take for 275.00 delivered" Youre fine. Just need to look away when she shows you the newly renovated 300.00 kitchen with Viking appliances.....

TagDag

How did you manage to get it in your house once it was off the crane?

sgtpepperaut

We have a little office on the ground floor. Ii used a pellet jack , which broke in the process, to move it inside. I was worried about it falling through the floor since there is a cellar underneath but it all worked out !

djinone

I'm curious as well. Doesn't quite look like it would fit on a hand truck.

Galaxy_flyer

My fiancé stopped asking questions after the 3rd piece of heavy machinery hit the garage floor 😂😂😂😂
